Private Duty Nursing (PDN):  is an hourly, medically necessary and continuous, substantial and complex nursing service provided by a licensed nurse (RN or LPN) in the patient’s home.  In addition to providing care in the home, the nurse may accompany a patient outside of the home when the patient’s normal life activities (such as a child attending school during the day) take the patient away from the home during the day.  PDN is paid by the hour for patients in their private residences
